On Friday, 26th November, 2021, there was a colloquium on ‘Solar-Hope-Come,’ an initiative which concerns itself with the use of solar energy to bring about development in less endowed/deprived communities. The programme, which was under the auspices of Akyamfoͻ brought in a delegation from South Korea, in the persons of Mr. Chan and Mr. Harry Hayford. Mr. Chan made a presentation on the various components of the project to the following effects:
- Construction of solar-powered health facilities.
- Construction of solar-powered educational centers, with a night school for under privileged children with no electrical light to study.
- Construction of solar-powered borehole water pumps.
- Technical training and provision of vocational skills for people, all in a bid towards eradicating unemployment, poverty and also improving the living conditions of the masses.
Following the event, Akyamfoͻ together with Mr. Chan on the next day, 27th November toured some selected communities in assessment of their respective basic needs.
