5 YEARS ANNIVERSARY AND BOOK LAUNCH CELEBRATIONS OF AKYAMFOↃ ASAFO BOAKYE AGYEMANG-BONSU

Akyamfoↄ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu celebrated a five-year enstoolment anniversary on 17th December 2025, which included the launch of three books at the Asafo Palace Kumasi. The celebration marked five years since Akyamfoↄ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu was enstooled as Asafohene and Asanteman Akwamuhene on December 17, 2020. He is known in private life as William Kojo Agyemang-Bonsu and serves as the Chairman of the KNUST Governing Council. The event was described as a moment of thanksgiving and reflection on the years of serving as Asafohene/Asanteman Akwamuhene.

Among the dignitaries present were the Guest of Honour His Royal Majesty Otumfoↄ Osei Tutu II – Asantehene, Chairperson Elder Kofi Wiredu – C.E.O of TLG, Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson Vice Chancellor – KNUST, Archbishop Gabriel Yaw Anokye – Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Kumasi, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye – Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Victor Kwasi Asamoah – Bompata Area Head (Church of Pentecost – Kumasi), Rev. Samuel Ahima – Yeboah (Ashanti Presbytery Chairperson), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, Executive Council Member (Church of Pentecost, and Coodrinator of Chieftaincy Ministry), Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi – Mayor K.M.A, Capt. Kwame Jabari – Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Ihab Kotob (C.E.O – BBC Industrial Ltd), Bob One (C.E.O – Bob One group of Companies Ltd) among others.

The occasion was both a traditional anniversary and an intellectual ceremony, merging the oral and written traditions to honor an individual’s journey and wisdom.

 

The central feature of the anniversary was the official launch of three books authored by Akyamfoↄ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu. The works span governance, faith, and environmental policy.

Books that were launched by Akyamfoↄ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu was:

  • Poisoned Commonwealth: The True Cost of Ghana’s Fractured Development.
  • Palace Operations Manual.
  • 2026 – A Year with the King of Kings: Daily Devotional Guide for Kings and Queens.

Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu expressed his profound gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the opportunity to serve. He revealed that his selection as Asafohene was the result of a rigorous process involving 22 candidates. He underscored the importance of environmental protection, particularly in the sustainable resolution of land disputes, and announced plans to publish a future book on Artificial Intelligence Governance.

 

In conclusion the Anniversary served as a platform to launch the current Asafohene’s literature on Ghana’s development challenges and palace administration, while also reinforcing the strategic partnership between the traditional council and KNUST.
