The centennial commemoration was a 4-day celebration 16th-20th November, 2024 to mark the return of Asafo Boakye returns from Seychelles with each day marking a particular event.
The anniversary which was commenced with clean-up exercise and indoor games on day 1 was followed up with soccer games of which team Asafo were emerged as winners at the Asokwa astro turf on day 2, day 3 was marked with float and health screening. Day 4 marked the grand durbar and last awukudae for the year 2024 which took place at the
Asafo palace.
The commemoration was themed “Echoes of a great leader” which highlights the strategic act he played in the Ashanti history. Among the dignitaries present were special guest of honour, His Excellency J.A Kufuor (Former president of republic of Ghana), Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng (Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs), Okatakyie Asafo Boakye III (Chief of Sanzule Eastern Nzema), Archbishop Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Professor Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, PhD. Department of History and Political Studies, KNUST, Nananom from the Asanteman Council, Nananom Akwamufoↄ, Asafo Gyaasefoↄ, Pastors/Clergies, Government officials, Entrepreneurs among others.
Akyamfoↄ Asafo Boakye Agyemang-Bonsu used the occasion to raise funds for the Asafo Boakye Commemorative Hospital (ABC-H), unveiling and dedication of commemorative sculpture and fountain of Asafo Boakye I with a brief history written beneath.
