“TREE FOR LIFE” REFORESTATION INITIATIVE 2025

On 5th June 2025, the Asafohene represented Otumfoↄ Osei Tutu II to plant trees at the Otumfoↄ’s Royal Golf Park as part of the Government and Forestry Commission’s Tree for Life Reforestation Initiative 2025 #T4L.

The Ghana Government, through the Forestry Commission, has launched the “Tree for Life” Reforestation Initiative 2025 as part of efforts to combat deforestation, restore degraded landscapes, and promote environmental sustainability.

Objectives of the Initiative:

  1. Mass Tree Planting– Aimed at planting millions of indigenous and exotic tree species across Ghana to restore forests and degraded lands.
  2. Climate Change Mitigation– Enhancing carbon sequestration to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  3. Biodiversity Conservation– Protecting endangered species and restoring ecosystems.
  4. Community Involvement– Engaging local communities, schools, and corporate organizations in tree-planting activities.
  5. Sustainable Livelihoods– Promoting agroforestry and eco-tourism to support local economies.

This initiative aligns with Ghana’s Green Ghana Day (an annual tree-planting event) and global commitments like the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).
