58TH SPECIAL CONGREGATION OF THE KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (KNUST).

This event, held at the Great Hall of KNUST in Kumasi, was a significant occasion where the university conferred honorary doctorate degrees on King Mswati III and other prominent figures for their contributions to leadership, education, and development.

Honorary Degree for King Mswati III – The King of Eswatini received a Doctor of Science (DSc) Honoris Causa in recognition of his efforts in advancing education and socio-economic development in his country.

Presence of Otumfoɔ Osei Tutu II – As the Chancellor of KNUST, the Asantehene presided over the ceremony, reinforcing his strong support for education and technological advancement in Ghana.

Special Congregation – The event celebrated KNUST’s commitment to excellence in science, technology, and innovation, with dignitaries, academics, and students in attendance.

KNUST also awarded honorary degrees to:

Dr. Daniel McKorley (McDan) – Honorary Doctor of Business (DBA)

• Reason: Entrepreneurship & philanthropy (founder of McDan Group, shipping, logistics, and aviation).

• Key Quote: “Africa’s development depends on private-sector innovation.”

b) Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong – Honorary Doctor of Business (DBA)

• Reason: Industrial development (CEO of Special Ice Group) and support for education.

• Key Quote: “Ghana must add value to its raw materials to boost the economy.”

c) Dr. Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei – Honorary Doctorate

• Reason: Public service & women’s empowerment (Deputy Trade Minister).
